MUSIC PICKS JANUARY 16: BADLANDS - HALSEY.

I first heard about Halsey only a few weeks ago, and I am surprised about how I have never before heard her music! I am a growing fan of Alternative music and I absolutely loved this! Its so catchy and addictive, as I caught myself constantly listening to this for the past few weeks. The album in total consists of 16 songs and has sold 199,000 copies in the US alone.  Ashley Nicolette Frangipane otherwise known as 'Halsey' is an American singer and songwriter. The name 'Halsey' originated from a street in Brooklyn, NY where she spent a lot of time as a teenager and it is also an Anagram of her name 'Ashley'. She said the following about her album 'Badlands' in an interview..

"There is a couple of songs on the record in particular that explore pretty unique concepts to me, theres this one song called 'New Americana' that some of the fans have already heard which I'm reintroducing and reimagining on the record, its about Americas tendencies to latch onto diversity and how pop culture has shaped us a nation, because music is a universal language, and what music has done for our current generation, is diversfiy it, because the music you grow up on instills a lot of morals and beliefs in you, because music, y'know is the greatest teacher."

 "The song New Americana,  the chorus is, 'We are the new Americana, high on legal marijuana, raised on Biggie and Nirvana' and at a first glance those lyrics seem like fun and party lyrics and y'know something people would scream drunk at a bar, and y'know something that I hope they do. but when you dig a little bit deeper its about how since ever grown up in a generation where there's open format music and where I was 9 years old listening to my dads 2Pac records and my Mums Nirvana records and Alanis Morissette records, y'know I have grown up in a place of diversity so I was 
exposed to different cultures and different walks of life, different ideas and different stories people had to tell, the older I got the less scared me, and the less shocked me, and less appalled me, and I was more open to diversity and the more open to culture and the different walks to life I became." 

"I think that music has instilled this ideology on this generation, and so, thats one concept I go into on Badlands." 

"I hope that this record comes across as a wider and more extensive body of work."

Funniest Tweets About The 'Friends' Reunion.

Scrolling through twitter is probably one of the first things we tend to do when something BIG happens in the world, when is your favourite time to read through twitter? Is it when a major celebrity gets married? when an election is happening? and reading hilarious jokes about whether Donald Trump's hair is real or not? (Spoiler: It isn't.) or maybe when your favourite show has a new episode so you can fangirl along with everyone else? or maybe even all of these! I thought after the first sad few weeks that we have had in already in 2016, with the deaths of MANY legends, that I would ~attempt~ to write a more funny, upbeat post to cheer some of you up!
